The Broad River Electric Cooperative, Inc. text messaging service is an alert messaging service that sends company news alerts and notifications. Members will receive information by sending “text messaging” to 85700.
After you register for the text messaging program, all further SMS text messages will be sent strictly on an opt-in basis. If you have opted in, you can still choose to opt out at any point thereafter.

Short Code Information: All Broad River Electric Cooperative text messaging services are originated from short code 85700. You will never receive any content from Broad River Electric Cooperative text messaging from any other source. If you do receive content from another source stating to be Broad River Electric Cooperative text messaging please call 866-OUR-COOP (866-687-2667).
IF YOU ARE A UTILITY CUSTOMER EXPERIENCING AN OUTAGE, YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR UTILITY/POWER PROVIDER DIRECTLY. TEXTPOWER, INC. IS A VENDOR THAT PROVIDES SERVICES TO YOUR UTILITY AND CANNOT HELP YOU RESOLVE OUTAGE ISSUES.
You can also request our contact information from your mobile phone at any time by sending a text message with the word “HELP” to 85700.
Opt In/Opt-Out info: To opt into (start service) text messaging send “text messaging” to 85700. To opt out (stop service) from Broad River Electric Cooperative text messaging, send a text message with the word “STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE” to 85700 from your mobile phone and we will unsubscribe you from our service. You will not receive any additional text messages via your mobile phone.
Frequency of program service:
Broad River Electric Cooperative text messaging is an alert service. No more than 3 messages/week will be sent.

Broad River Electric Cooperative’s text messaging services are compatible with all major cell carriers including Alltel, AT&T, Boost Mobile, Cellcom, Cellular One, Cellular South, Cincinnati Bell, Cricket, nTelos, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile and many smaller rural carriers that participate in the Interop3 network.
