The 1,487 Broad River Electric members who attended Saturday’s Annual Meeting of Members was one of the largest crowds to attend the yearly business meeting.
All members received a 2-in-1 bag cooler and dozens won prizes including a GMC Sierra, a Hustler zero-turn mower, a John Deere lawn tractor, and a Generac home generator.
In his CEO report, Terry Mallard updated the membership on the cooperative progress toward its strategic plan including improved member service and sustained reliability. The highlight was Mallard’s report that there will be no rate increase in 2019.
Board of Trustees Chairman Norris R. Fowler Jr. praised co-op staff and employees for finding ways to reduce costs while keeping service quality and reliability high. Mr. Fowler also praised his fellow directors noting, “When I use the word ‘trustee,’ I don’t use it lightly. These are people that you can trust—that you put faith in.”
In the board election, members re-elected Mark H. Patterson of the Cherokee District, Kevin W. Moss in the Spartanburg District, as well as Chairman Fowler in the Union District.
