1,600 show up for annual meeting registration

Four-year-old William Farr holds on to his new cooler at the annual meeting
Four-year-old William Farr was happy to hold on to the new cooler his grandparents, William and Patsy Farr of Jonesville, received after registering for Broad River’s Annual Meeting.

More than 1,600 members came to Broad River Electric Cooperative over a three-day period to register for the co-op’s Annual Meeting of Members last month. All 1,602 registering members received a hard-shell cooler, re-elected three trustees to the Broad River Electric Board and provided input on the member gift they’d like next year.

Incumbents Bill Peeler of Cherokee County, DeCole Gallman of Union County and Eric West of Spartanburg retained their seats on the board. By a 56 percent majority, members also said they preferred to continue receiving a gift at next year’s registration rather than a $25 bill credit.

The business meeting and prize drawings were broadcast on the co-op’s Facebook page on April 11 and can be viewed on our website.
