At Broad River Electric, our goal is always to provide our members with the most convenient services possible, which is why we offer several ways for members to pay their electricity bills each month. Here is a refresher on all the options available to our members to best suit their needs and preferences.
Online or Phone payments
Using SmartHub, our online member portal, or by dialing (866) 687-2667 members can pay their electricity bills using Visa or MasterCard credit or debit cards. When you make your one-time payment using these methods, your payment is posted as soon as we get authorization from your credit-card company—often immediately. An additional $3.95 service fee is added during each transaction.
PayNOW allows you to create an electronic check from our website securely by entering your bank account and routing number each time you use this method. No additional fees are associated with this method of payment. Learn more about how to use the PayNOW feature today.
Automatic payments
Members can enroll in automatic payment of their bills, which might be the most convenient and cost-saving method available. This option means you authorize Broad River Electric to automatically draft your bank account or credit card for the full amount on the stated due date or the next business day after a weekend or holiday.
There are no bills to keep track of, no checks to write, no envelopes to mail. Even better, there is no charge to join our automatic Credit/Bank Draft program. You still get a bill every month for your records—but we do the rest. To sign up for our automatic Credit/Bank Draft program, call toll-free (866) 687-2667.
In-person payments
For members who wish to pay in person, Broad River Electric offers pay stations at locations throughout our service area:
- Broad River Electric’s main office at 1036 Webber Road, Cowpens
- J & T Express at 2549 Highway 215, Union
- Paradise Home Center at 600 Buffalo Road, Union
- Robinson’s Hardware, 110 N. Main St., Jonesville
- Hamm’s Grill and Grocery, 100 Batchelor Dr., Blacksburg
Members who wish to pay with cash can pay their bills at the register at select retailers including Dollar General, CVS, Walgreens and 7-Eleven for an additional $1.50 fee. There is a barcode on the back of your bill that the cashier will scan for this method. The retail store is a payment outlet only; the member must communicate the full payment amount to be entered.
Additional options
If your bill fluctuates dramatically between months, or you’re looking for a consistent bill amount, Budget Billing provides predictable monthly bills to prevent the shock from month to month. Budget Billing calculates a bill based on a member’s previous 12-month average usage. This program is especially beneficial for budget-conscious individuals, as there are no “settle up” payments at the end of the year. Any credited or owed balance is rolled into the new average for the next 12 months. To sign-up for Budget Billing, members must be active for at least 12 months.
